At some point in our adult lives, we come to a crossroads where social choices and activities are deemed age-appropriate (or not). How do we hold on to our childhood bliss without coming across as immature, unprepared and misfit?
The answer is simple - play adult sports.
Adult sports range from your classic, uniform-doused competitions like basketball, soccer and hockey to playground games turned rogue like kickball, frisbee and dodgeball. Whether it’s college intramurals or post-grad city leagues, this is the one area where grown individuals are encouraged to wear costumes, demonstrate athleticism and attend pre and post game parties all in one night without being subjected to looks of aging disapproval.
Unlike the high school tryout regimen, adult social sports have a place for everyone. Many leagues utilize broad marketing by giving incentives to players who dress up, donate to charity and demonstrate good sportsmanship, allowing the less skilled individuals a chance to excel outside of the sport itself. Similarly, almost all leagues have some sort of prize or recognition for the champions, so the over-zealous competitor living out his or her former glory days is also appropriately catered to.
In order to contain too much excitement or dugout fist fights, adult sports leagues don’t shy away from rule implementation. Both peer and professionally hired officials are in place to ensure that a giant red ball bounces twice before the plate, an underhand softball pitch reaches a certain height and that there is the proper male to female ratio on the playing field.
Things can still get testy out there, but adults are responsible and level-headed, so many of the fortified youthful sports mistakes are glazed over and buried. Losing your bat, bag, ball, shoes, keys, phone and more, however, seems to be a growing concern in these leagues, which is why TrackR helps to make sure you never leave your items behind.
The next time you question your choices or evening hobbies, remember that adult sports literally even out the playing field. Enjoy being a grown up, letting loose, playing hard and never losing your valuables while doing so!
